2017 Steve McQueen Car and Motorcycle Show - Ten For Ten

The 2017 Steve McQueen Car and Motorcycle Show is on the 10th lap. The Friends of Steve McQueen pulled a perfect score on showmanship, making it 10 for 10 on the decade. On an unusually hot and sunny June day, another record crowd turned out in support of The Boys Republic.
All proceeds of the car show go directly into the troubled youth programs and facilities. The connection to Steve McQueen goes back to 1947 when the later famous actor would be placed at The Boys Republic. Steve would credit this time as a turning point in his life, for greater benefit and contribution to the world.
The field of cars attending include many objects of Steve's desire - Porsches, Jags, race cars, dirt bikes and the like. From old Model A rat rod to new NSX, the variety of cars reflect the very far and wide spectrum of Boys Republic supporters.
Chris Burns is Executive Director - he lauds the sunshine, Friends of Steve McQueen and the loyal attendees for making the 2017 Sand Pebbles theme a great success again. The event has grown consistently and is a must-attend fixture on the So-Cal car culture calendar.
One highlight of the day is the tram tour around the Republic farm, where tour guides narrate the ride and share stories of the mission - past, present and future. The car show provides a tremendous financial shot in the arm for the BR - helping fund renovations to the facilities and upgrades to the programs.
The Boys can rely on a long-serving group of dedicated individuals and sponsors to shine the show. With such a good cause at hand, there's not a lot of arm-twisting needed to fill a field of great cars, people and products.
As Steve McQ was an avid two-wheeler fan, the car show has a significant "& Motorcycle" component. Folks like Brad Boyle (Motorsports) and Don Ince (Viking Motors) make sure there is a broad and deep lineup of bikes. Even Fonzie's Triumph from the Happy Days TV show was present, adding to the cool quotient.
The June 2 2018 event is themed for "Bullitt" in honor of the 50th anniversary of that iconic Steve McQueen movie. If you have been here once, you will likely be here again. If you have never, this is something you need to see (to see why you will keep coming back).
