Blackhawk Automotive Museum Shares Anniversary with Aston Martin
Blackhawk Museum, Jun 28 2013 - One of the most respected brand names in the world of luxury high performance sports cars, Aston Martin, celebrates its first 100 years this year. The Blackhawk Automotive Museum, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, is the perfect place for automotive enthusiasts to see exactly why Aston Martin, a niche British company, has become such a renowned global brand. Tim McGrane, Executive Director of the Blackhawk Museum, believes that providing the public with the ability to see and understand just what makes an automotive brand so iconic is part of the Blackhawk’s mission.
“The Aston Martin brand has a truly global reputation, yet its production numbers are exclusive. Its highly respected name has been built around the qualities and accomplishments of its products. Like other luxury products, Aston Martins are beautifully designed and combine cutting-edge technology and performance with the finest genuine materials and traditional craftsmanship” McGrane pointed out. “While many may recognize the name, relatively few may have ever had the opportunity to see one of these sports cars in person. We are truly pleased to offer an outstanding display of Aston Martins at The Blackhawk this summer”.
The company that became Aston Martin was founded in 1913 by Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford who founded a new automotive venture. They called their company Bamford & Martin which later became Aston Martin, acknowledging Lionel Martin’s success at the Aston Clinton Hillclimb in Buckinghamshire, where he had successfully raced their very first cars.
Bamford and Martin began their business in in London, becoming well known as providers of sporting machines to enthusiastic racers and discerning enthusiasts. In the century that followed Aston Martin has come to represent many things, from sporting prowess through to technical innovation, beautiful design, fine craftsmanship and superior performance.
To honor the 100thanniversary of Aston Martin, The Blackhawk Automotive Museum will be displaying five outstanding examples of this famous marque. Several of the cars are from the Museum’s collection, some on loan from private collections. Vehicles in the Aston Martin display will include:
