Quail Lodge Carmel Aug 18 2017 - Over 100 cars went over the block at Bonhams’ annual Quail Lodge auction in Carmel on Friday August 18 2017. The three top sellers: the first McLaren F1 imported to the U.S.sold for a record $15,620,000; 1963 Jaguar E-Type Lightweight Competition at $8,000,000; and 1964 Lotus Type 34 Single-Seater at $1,150,000.
1964 Lotus Type 34 Single-Seater sold $1,150,000 Chassis no. 2 - The ex-AJ Foyt, Parnelli Jones, Dan Gurney and Jim Clark car was an Indy 500 Pole and 8 time USAC Pole Winner and a 4 time USAC race winner - the winningest Indy Lotus.
Over 20 Ferrari ready to cross the auction block
1965 Ferrari 275 GTB Alloy Long-Nose sold $3,080,000 - Rare factory test car allotted to compete in the Monte Carlo Rally. Retains matching numbers engine.
North American beauty took fair share of the auction block including: 1930 Lincoln Model L Convertible Roadster sold $66,000; 1972 Chevrolet Corvette 454/270HP Roadster sold $44,000; 1986 Ford RS 200 Evolution sold $550,000; 1953 Buick Skylark sold $115,500; and 1959 Cadillac Series 62 Eldorado Biarritz Convertible sold $126,500.
1972 Chevrolet Corvette 454/270HP Roadster sold $44,000 - Striking and era-appropriate Elkhart Green over Saddle livery. Optioned with both soft and hard tops, power windows and steering, A/C, and tilt steering column.
1904 Premier Model F 16HP Rear Entrance Tonneau sold $341,000 - Eligible for the British Bonhams London to Brighton Run. A thorough restoration, followed by museum storage. One of very few survivors of a great Indianapolis brand with racing history.
Some of Bonham offerings included a few one-owner cars: Highly original 1985 Audi Sport Quattro S1 sold $484,000; 1990 Ferrari F40 Design by Pininfarina sold $1,457,500; and 1962 Jaguar E-type Series I 3.8 Roadster sold $148,500.
1985 Audi Sport Quattro S1 sold $484,000 - Just one owner from new who took factory delivery. Highly original condition with less than 18,400 kms on the odometer. First All-Wheel Drive Rally Car.
