The Petersen Automotive Museum Presents Mustang Madness Weekend

Los Angeles CA, Apr 3 2014 – America’s favorite pony car is turning 50 and to celebrate, the Petersen Automotive Museum is hosting Mustang Madness—a weekend jam packed with festivities including an all-Mustang car show, a sneak peak of the 2015 Mustang before it hits the showroom floor, tours of the Mustangs Forever: 50 Years of a Legend exhibit, live interview sessions with “Mustang Heroes” and fun for the whole family with food tents, live music, a huge play area and museum scavenger hunt for young children. Advance tickets for Mustang Madness are now on sale at the Petersen’s website and registration is now open for the Mustang Car Show on May 4.

Mustang Madness promises to have something for everyone:

  • Ford will have Product Specialists on site all weekend long to preview the 2015 Ford Mustang before it hits showroom floors
  • The Petersen will offer hourly guided tours all weekend of the new exhibit, Mustangs Forever: 50 Years of a Legend
  • World champion drifter and founder of Mustang RTR, Vaughn Gittin Jr. will appear on Inside the Motoman Studio on Saturday, May 3 at 10:00am and will sign autographs for fans afterwards. Another Inside the Motoman Studio interview will take place on Sunday, May 4 at 11:00am with Beau Boeckmann, President of Galpin Auto Sports
  • Mustang Madness Car Show at the Petersen on Sunday, May 4 from 10:00am – 2:00pm. Participants are encouraged to meet at Galpin Ford at 7:00am for a rally drive to the Petersen and will end the day at 4:00pm with three cash prizes, including $500 for People’s Choice Best in Show. Henry Ford III presenting the Ford Heritage Award at 2:00pm. Registration fee includes two tickets to the museum and a goody bag
  • Featured Mustangs at the Car Show will includeBob Fria with the first Ford Mustang, Hollywood Hot Rods’ Troy Ladd and his custom Mustang, Pure Vision’s Martini Mustang and Eleanor cars from both Gone in 60 Seconds
  • Fun for the whole family all day on May 4 including a 1,000 square-foot bounce house, CXC racing simulators and a Petersen Museum Scavenger hunt. There will also be live music, a food court and drinks

Other event highlights include all day screenings on Sunday, May 4 of both the 1974 and 2000 versions of Gone in 60 Seconds and a “Value of the Mustang” seminar on Sunday at 2:00pm, presented by experts from Hagerty Collector Car Insurance. The Petersen will also have the Mustang Lounge open in the rooftop penthouse Saturday and Sunday from 10:00am to 6:00pm. The cost for the lounge is $25 and includes live music on Sunday, a burger buffet and a full cash bar. Cost will include one drink ticket for any adult beverage.

The Petersen Automotive Museum Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charity.  The Museum is located at 6060 Wilshire Boulevard (at Fairfax) in Los Angeles, California 90036.  Admission prices are $15 for general admission adults, $10 for seniors, $10 for students with ID, $5 for children ages 3 to 12. Museum members, active military with ID and children under three are admitted free. Vault tours are available for an additional $25, and are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Parking is free for the first 30 minutes and $2.00 each additional 30 minutes. One hour validation with purchase of $10 or more in the Museum Store or Johnny Rockets located in the museum lobby.  Museum hours are Tuesday through Sunday from 10am to 6pm.
