Vancouver International Auto Show 2019: Present From the Past
Vancouver BC, March 19 2019 - Meccanica - where have we heard that famous name before? InterMeccanica started as a car tuner in Italy 60 years ago, pioneering into the replica car manufacturing business still running today. ElectraMeccanica is a modern branch of that heritage - wired with electricity in the veins.
Lorenzo Caprilli (Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing) and his team were on hand at the Vancouver International Auto Show again for 2019. "We've been making these cars (late 50s 356 replicas) in California since the 1970s and since the 1980s in Vancouver British Columbia."
Electra Meccanica Electric Roadster "S"
Electrifying a replica Porsche 356 is a brilliant idea - the body style is perfectly simple but effectively timeless. Original factory built models of Porsche's first production car are significantly priced - out of the reach and realm of the average observer.
Converting a real 356 from gas to electric would probably be sacrilegious. Instead, ElectraMeccanica gives that classic old design modern underpinnings and provides a brand new car that can compete well in the high end specialty market - the eRoadster S.
2019 Electra Meccanica Solo
To compete in the low-price car market segment, ElectraMeccanica introduced the SOLO in 2018 - a one seat electric micro-car distributed in Canada and US. Built in the Vancouver suburb of New Westminster, the SOLO has a top speed of 130 km/h, range of 160 km and sells for ~$15,500 US.
ElectraMeccanica automobiles should come with a big warning sticker on the side:
